Energy, banking and governance identified as top investor concerns

During an episode of the talk show 'Zero Sum Game' hosted by TBS Executive Editor Shakhawat Liton, Invest Bangladesh Chairman Ashik Chowdhury identified energy, banking, and governance as the core issues hindering investment in Bangladesh. Chowdhury argued that slowing growth is a symptom of these underlying structural problems. Citing World Bank governance indicators, he noted that Bangladesh currently lags behind all regional neighbors except for Pakistan and Afghanistan. To address these challenges, he proposed a deregulation initiative, which includes a commitment to reduce the time required to open an import letter of credit from one year to 14 days.
