The implementation of a new pay scale has resulted in an additional annual expenditure of Tk1.06 lakh crore for the government. To meet this financial requirement, the government is relying on the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to boost collections. According to TBS Bangladesh, the NBR has been assigned a revenue target of Tk6.04 lakh crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This represents a nearly 46% increase compared to the Tk4.15 lakh crore collected during the 2025-26 fiscal year.
