Consumer dissatisfaction over electricity meter rent and demand charges

There is growing dissatisfaction among consumers in Bangladesh regarding electricity bills following the implementation of new tariffs in June. Users of both prepaid and postpaid meters, in both urban and rural areas, have reported a significant and unexpected increase in their monthly electricity expenses. Much of the public frustration is directed toward the meter rental fees and demand charges associated with the new billing structure.
